Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? Why are the Avengers ever given this billing? The Marvel Universe seems to see them as the premier super-team even when there is no stability in their ranks. They’ve been more scrutinized when Steve Rogers made them the core group as when they are the new Global enforcement division (similar to S.H.I.E.L.D.)
Brian Michael Bendis together with Chris Bachalo and legendary John Romita Jr. are poised to give the definition of Avengers membership in the events of “Fear Itself”. “Avengers Fear Itself” is told in Avengers # 13-17 and is the tie-in to the core of Marvel’s 2011 company-wide mini-series.

            Avengers 14
The story arc is action-packed and truly does aid in the definition of an Avenger. Sacrifice, responsibility, relentlessness, courage, resourcefulness and being human is what defines the Avengers. They have arguably inspired (along with the Defenders) the group dynamics of the acclaimed Justice League animated series which was why it was so good.
Though it can be argued that this story arc borrowed heavily from themes of past issues; Bendis does make a creative way to get his point across in the form of interviews. It seemed to break the fourth wall and it gives the narrative a lot of character and personality.

I’ve said that several tie-ins would prove to be a worthy companion to that series while I admit that some prove unnecessary. Being as Thor was the prime …
