A seasoning shake used in place of salt and pepper
< read all 1 reviews Many people outside of Louisiana have probably heard of products from companies like Zatarain's and Tony Chachere's, but I don't know how many people are familiar with Ball's Cajun Seasoning. Ball's Cajun Foods is a company in Lake Charles, LA that offers a number of spices (including salt-free ones) and cooking mixes. This review pertains strictly to Ball's Cajun Seasoning.
For fans of a lot of Cajun seasonings, you'll notice that Ball's Cajun Seasoning is a finer ground product. It is an all purpose seasoning that replaces salt and pepper in just about any dish you want to add it to. It's got just the right amount of spice for anyone who enjoys a slight kick to their food, but also has a perfect seasoning blend that enhances the flavor of what you are adding it to. A lot of other companies out there rely on heat to cover up the lack of overall taste in their products (and I'm not knocking them for that), but Ball's appears to have put flavor first, and I love them for that.
I personally use Ball's Cajun Seasoning as a rub for pork and beef steaks, as well as with chicken. It's good to mix into a marinade as well to provide even more flavor to your meat. Whenever I make a gumbo, I toss in a bit of Ball's to give it some extra flavor. I like to sprinkle a bit on boiled or deviled eggs as well.
I have also come across people who shake Ball's Cajun Seasoning on salads and just about anything else you can think of.
The seasoning features salt, pepper, chili powder, paprika, sugar, secret spices, garlic, celery, and onions.
