the boston terrier is a small, compact, muscular dog that can range from 15"-17" and  10-25 lbs. they are well-mannered, and enjoy learning which makes them easy to train. they do well in small apartments or homes with a small or no back yard as long as they are exercised. (a daily walk or dog park visits)

their fur is short, glossy and smooth making them a little less than average shedder and very easy to groom. a daily brushing with a soft bristle brush should suffice. bathe only when necessary. their large protruding eyes can be prone to injury and need to be gentle cleaned with a damp cloth daily. because of the short snout, they can have breathing issues such as snoring. breeding can pose an issue as well due to small pelvis of the bitch and the larger heads of the pups.

they make excellent companions to children, elders, and are friendly to strangers. my personal experience with them has been very positive. they do, however, have a tendancy to develope "small dog syndrome" where a small dog will take on the traits of the pack leader, making them king of the castle and not you. so they do require a strong pack leader with a firm but gentle hand. they are also sensitive to the tone of your voice and physical repremand is usually not necessary.

easy to train, easy to groom, and as long as theres a warm lap to lay on, easy to please. all-in-all these are wonderful dogs and i would reccommend one to anyone looking are a loving companion.
Gunnar

I have owned a Boston for almost 4 years now and he has changed my life. Growing up we had German Sheppard mixes, so I was used to larger breeds. Sancho (my Boston) has converted me into a "lifer" and I am now a huge fan of the breed. Your review is right on point - well done!

I'm not too much of a terrier person, but this totally changed my opinions. They sound pretty similar to the Maine Coon breed of cat in terms of attitude and needs. If I ever get a dog, I'll seriously consider the Boston terrier!

Is that a picture of your pooch? If so, he/she is adorable!

Sancho, 'World's Most Adorable Dog'
There are a few things in life that can turn your world upside down: children, marriage, college, not necessarily in that order, but I'm not one to judge. About four years ago, my life changed with the addition of my dog, Sancho. As an apartment dweller at the time, it was absolutely necessary that I select the perfect breed, one who was able to live comfortably in small spaces, i.e. quiet, relatively clean, and well-behaved. On the other hand, I wanted a dog who would keep up with my active lifestyle. …

Wiki

The Boston Terrier is a breed of dog originating in the United States of America. This "American Gentleman" was accepted in 1893 by the American Kennel Club as a non-sporting breed. Color and markings are important when distinguishing this breed to the AKC standard. They should be either black, brindle or seal with white markings. Bostons are small and compact with a short tail and erect ears. They are intelligent and friendly and can be stubborn at times. The average life span of a Boston is 13 years.
