Uptown Dallas is an area filled with restaurants up and down McKinney Ave. On today's adventurous journey the LYD crew visited Breadwinners. This restaurant gets mega points on atmosphere. There was jazz music playing softly, mood lighting for the evening, and an old-fashioned feel in the decorations. After speaking with the hostess, the original business of the Breadwinners building was a pharmacy.
Breadwinners has complimentary valet parking. Complimentary!!! As soon as you walk into Breadwinners you are hit by the smell of fresh baked goods. The first thing you see are sweet, mouth watering CAKES!!! The hostess was very accommodating and gave us a private table near the back, and the wait-staff was very friendly and would check on us fairly often. Sourdough bread and butter were tasty and complimentary. The butter was very creamy and had a homemade churned butter taste. Breadwinners is the type of restaurant you can forget the city you are in and enjoy the evening with friends and family.
LYD says: if you are looking for a spicy starter select the spicy blue cheese chips. If you are not a fan of blue cheese, ask the server if a substitute is available. This is the time to get creative on classic American go-tos. Try the fish tacos for a sweet and spicy dance on the palate or take the classic meatloaf and jazz it up with turkey and sweet potatoes! Be creative! This is a fabulous restaurant to be BOLD!
