This is an excellent new album by Cake. I love the variety of the tempo of songs here. I have never heard a song about teenage pregnancy without lyrics. The fact that "Teenage Pregnancy" has no lyrics makes it interesting to me. John McCrea and his band sound great instrumentally here. It sounds like a bleak track, I enjoy it. I like the keyboard playing on this song. "Mustache Man" is another favorite track of mine. I like Gabe Nelson's groovy guitar riffs on this song. Vince DiFiore adds such a cool touch with his trumpet on this track and so many tunes on this disc. "Sick Of You" is actually the first single from this disc. This is a song about being frustrated by all aspects of life. Paulo Baldi is a talented drummer. He gives this tune a really good beat. "Got To Move" is a subtle slower song about a person's self worth. I like this song very much. "Bound Away" is a song about living life on the road. This song is the most pleasant track on the album. It puts me in a mood to party with a friend. "Federal Funding" is a funny but realistic song about what people can do with federal money. "The Winter" is a love song about missing a special someone. This is also about how the winter season feels when a person is lonely. "Long Time" is an upbeat song that gets me dancing. The musical arrangements on this track sound like nothing I have heard before. It is a very special song because of that. "Showroom of Compassion" is the first great album of the year.
