If you've never taken your dog to a dog camp, it's definitely something you want to put on your to-do list. It is SO much funI live in western Washington state, and there are some local dog lovers who get together a couple of times each year to rent a place to go for a weekend with their dogs. It's a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it. There are also formal dog camps arranged by different people or groups that give you the chance to get together with other dog lovers, enjoy the great outdoors, and generally have the chance to spend quality time with your pup in nature. It's the best experience ever!

There is someone here in Western Washington who goes to the trouble to arrange for a dog camping weekend a couple of times each year. It's an amazing and wonderful experience. If there is no-one in your area who does this, get a group of your friends together, rent a place that's suitable for your camping style, and go! I can't begin to tell you how great it is to be outdoors in a natural setting, surrounded by trees, with friends who "get" what being a dog owner is like, and just hang out for a weekend of fun, sun, and play. If you've never done this, just find a place with a group of dog-loving friends and do it.
Check with places that rent to scouting groups, and you might be able to convince them that having a bunch of dog lovers spending a weekend in the sun with their dogs is a really good idea. Locally, we've found that places that rent to kids seem to be more open to renting their facilities to people with dogs. And some of them come with great amenities - such as meals and private cabins.
If you want to also have a place to work with your dog, there are places like that available, too. Check out this video from The Dog Scouts of America.
