Just finished this, so I wanted to share my initial impressions. First of all, I think this is an extremely solid interactive experience. Magnificent production values, good story, creative reworking of classic CASTLEVANIA mythology, a combat system with depth, nicely balanced variety of gameplay types (platforming, puzzles and combat all have equal attention), all wrapped up in a single player campaign that is truly EPIC in scope (the main game will easily take you about 30+ hours to complete the first time through). However, like the DARKSIDERS, so much of this game is derivative of other action/adventure titles and doesn't feel fresh. It lacks that spark of innovation, that authenticity, needed to be a truly GREAT action title. Still for what it is though it's really entertaining. If you want a gorgeously rendered single player action game that will keep you satiated for months, this is not a bad choice.
CASTLEVANIA is actually my favorite video game franchise of all time. Oh no…I'm serious.
