For those who don't want to waste precious brain juices calculating tip.

When I first realized that my iPhone didn't come installed with a tip calculator, I kind of freaked out (hey, this was my first smart phone!).  I eat out with my friends and family very often, and somehow, I've become the designated tip calculator, so what good was I to dine with now without a tip calculator on my new phone?  Then it dawned on me that there was probably an app for that, so I checked the app store, and sure enough, there were plenty of them!

The tip calculator on my old phones were very straight forward where everything was on just one page with very minimal scrolling, if at all, so that was exactly what I was looking for in the app.  I looked through a bunch of apps in the store.  Some free, and some that cost a bit.  For some reason though, a lot of them seemed to have three-plus screenshots, sometimes even five.  I can appreciate the extra features/options that I have in calculating my tip, but sheesh... it's just a tip calculator, I don't need that many pages of stuff.  So when I came upon CheckPlease, I felt that I had hit gold.

CheckPlease is available in either paid or free/lite mode.  For the average user, the only real difference is that the paid one has no ads.  The lite version is actually the highest, and most rated, tip calculator.  I downloaded the lite one first, to test it out, and have been using it since.

Check out this screenshot:

It's so simple and straight-forward that I feel like I would be insulting your intelligence by explaining it in detail to you.  The only thing noteworthy to point out is that you can either choose to round your tip, or the total.  My only complaint is that this tip calculator doesn't automatically have a decimal, but I can live with that.

Sure, I could plenty well calculate the tip in my head, but why waste my precious brain juices, when there's an app for that? :)

LOL! Great review title and I have to admit, me and my friends are addicted to this app. Then again, when we go to the Japanese restaurants that we frequent, then we tip 40% LOL! (a lot of free food though)

Thanks, Woo! You know what my secret to free food at a Japanese restaurant is? Bringing the itamae beer and toys ;)

Hahaha... you need a 'smart'phone to calculate tips?
