Cold War Kids live, free, and on the sand.

  • Aug 4, 2010

The Cold War Kids played a free show on the sand in Huntington Beach during the US Open of Surfing this past week. It was an incredible scene with bare back teens frolicking with the who's who of the surf industry all within the rock show back drop. See day 4 pics here. San Diego based The Soft Pack opened up with great set pumping out their happy surf-punked tracks. The Orange County born and bred Cold War Kids had the crowd moving with their usual soulful indie rock. This was the third time I have seen CWK and this show was the most unique. I only wish they would have played Saint John.

Random bonus: Catching my favorite surfer, Tom Curren, playing guitar at the Nike 6.0 Motel!

Awesome! I haven't heard from them in years since Hang Me Up To Dry (which is awesome), so this is cool to hear. Do they have new stuff out? What did they play? Glad you had a good time and cool pics!
