There's something about using a cookbook that makes me feel like being a kid again, long before you could "google" just about any recipe. If you're anything like me, entertaining guests is a necessity and serving nothing but the best is the only option. While I've always been one to rely on the internet lately for gathering some of the best recipes, I was actually quite pleased with this purchase!
The book is packed with inspiring and delicious, easy to follow recipes with beautiful pictures (which are usually lacking in most internet recipes). After all, it's nice to see what your food "should" turn out to look like, right? The recipes are laid out over 269 pages, with dishes to please just about any taste, split over the following chapters: Hot and cold soups, Pasta and grains, Fish and shellfish, Meat and poultry, Pies and tarts, Vegetables and salads, Puddings and ices, Chocolate and coffee and the Basics.
Although the "Poached rabbit legs with gremolata" is a little too complex for my tastes and has a high unlikelihood of EVER being prepared in my kitchen, some of my favorites (and my guests') include the grilled vege lasagna, wild mushroom barley risotto and honey roast ham. For dessert, the lemon meringue pie, chocolate swirl cheesecake & caramelized apple pie recipes top the list!! Gordon Ramsey and the writers added tons of personal touches and anecdotes, which was a great way to separate it from being just another cookbook.
The dishes are prepared using fresh, easily accessible, known ingredients, helpfully avoiding the ingredients that are difficult to come by and rather expensive. Whether you're a beginner or an expert in the kitchen, you'll appreciate the tasty, easy to prepare recipes, ideal for family meals, dates and dinner parties alike! Oh, and it would make for a great gift too!!
