Unusual Movie Art

CRAZY4CULT is a collection of movie art from Gallery 1988, a Los Angeles art gallery that focuses on pop-cultured themed art. The prints in this book are printed on a high-caliber, glossy stock. The works portrayed in the book include, among others, STAR WARS, WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, THE BIG LEBOWSKI, ALIENS, PULP FICTION, THE SHINING, FARGO, E.T., TWIN PEAKS, THE BIG LEBOWSKI, DONNIE DARKO, BACK TO THE FUTURE, THE WIZARD OF OZ, GHOSTBUSTERS, and JAWS. Most of the works featured are paintings and sketches, but there are some pieces of sculpture, too. My favorite work in the book is "The Parking Ticket": a painting of an astronaut and R2-D2. Overall, this book has a somewhat limited appeal because its core audience is someone who is an avid fan of pop culture as well as a person who has a strong sense of art appreciation.

What I've seen of this, I enjoyed. Gallery '88 was brought to my attention by Brandon Bird and some of the illustrators who produce promotional artwork for Alamo Drafthouse events, all of whom have contributed to the venue's selections.
I can't agree that this volume is at all inaccessible, as its every depicted subject is widely popularized.

@ - I agree that much of the subject matter depicted is widely popularized (though there are some smaller, lesser known films "honored"). However, there are many people who, though they might recognize the subject matter, won't enjoy the style or form of art it is represented in.

This sounds like a really cool book and would be a great addition to anybody's coffee table! I added some tags to help get the review the attention it deserves.
