What is it? It's a powder that you mix with (preferably cold) water. It is perfect before and after workouts, and helps to prevent soreness and tension in your muscles. It contains complex carbohydrates and electrolytes which gives your body energy during your workouts.
When should you drink it? I prefer to drink them at the end of my running workouts, but you can do it before, during (if you bike ride or if you don't mind holding a water bottle during your workout), and after workouts.
What does it taste like? The taste is very sweet. This would be my only complaint. It comes in a variety of flavors, I prefer the Cool Citrus myself (I have yet to try some of the new flavors- Pomegranate Berry sound delicious!). Just a one ounce scoop (provided to you when you purchase it) to an 8 oz. glass of water and you are good to go! Sometimes I use half a scoop just to die down the sweetness- and it still gives me the same results.
Why should you care? I am able to run up to 10-12 miles and not feel sore the next day, and I believe it is because of this drink. I think it allows you to push yourself further physically, and helps your body to recover faster. The canister costs between $20-$30 and lasts for a long time. I run at least 4 times a week and find each canister to last about 3-4 months.
It is not a diet supplement and is very similar to having gatorade at the end of a workout. I just feel that with the added carbohydrates, it is just the right amount of substance that your body needs after a workout. It's a great replacement for water (what I used to have after a long workout) and it tastes a lot better.
