DVD Empire.com - very good site if you're looking for regular movies, excellent if it's XXX you want

DVD Empire is another site that I would say is a favorite. I been dealing with them for about 6 years and my overall experience has been satisfactory so far. The name alone gives it away, DVD Empire is a site that sells movies. They also sell Television series and even adult DVD's on their sister site called Adult DVD Empire.
Their movie section is broken down into categories; Quick Links - This is made up of recent and future releases, all time and current best sellers, used DVD's, recent additions, and sales & Promos. Movies - action, classic, horror, etc. Television - Reality shows, TV sets, etc. Animation - Anime, Adult Swim, computer animation, stop motion. Special Interest - Documentary, Educational, Fitness, etc. And there are many more categories.
I use the site often mainly to compare anime and horror prices with amazon.com. They have a pretty large library, but it's nothing compared to amazon's. Once in a blue moon, I would find something rare that is dirt cheap, while on amazon, it's being priced gouged by third party sellers.
The search engine is nowhere near as good as amazon's, but it's far better than epinions. While amazon's search engine will spell out the titles for you, DVD Empire, you have to at least be in the ball park. For the sake of this review, I spelled "A Nighmare on Elm stret", and it still brought me to "A Nightmare on Elm Street". Also, if you happen to type in "Jason X", there's a link on the page that you click on, and it will open up the entire Friday the 13th catalogue.
I'm not going to pretend ignorance here. Although my main focus is anime and horror titles. I do know that the site is clearly oriented towards porn. Located at the top right corner in the blue area. There's a selection for the adult dvd category. Now for those who can care less about anything porn related. The site at no time bombards you with the stuff, it's only a small mention. The only way you can really see it, is if you really want to.
In regards to adult DVD's, I believe they update the selections with brand new titles every day. Navigating through the stuff appears to be a breeze there as well; you select a certain girl, click on her name, and titles featuring that particular girl will pop up. You can also click the cover art to enlarge the front or back. You can also look at the back and view graphic screen shots. The genres are also broken down into vast categories; straight, facials, big boobs, gonzo, big butts, red-heads, blonds, uniforms, midgets, latin, black, lesbian, the list seemed to be endless. There's a section on studios which also seems to run forever. They even have a video on demand for the stuff. Now, I'm not familiar with those prices and packages, or how they handle rentals and downloads, but they are available. I also noticed that the site is a 7 time winner - best retail site in regards to porn. Therefore, if you're a die hard porn fan, this site may be a great place for you to shop.
Purchasing products is quick and easy there, and sometimes they have seasonal deals. Around October every year, they have a 50% discount on horror movies. Around Christmas time, they usually have something similar. On orders at least 25$, your order will qualify for free shipping. In addition, if your order is made before 3pm on weekdays, it will ship the same day. You can also cancel orders which I found to be a lot easier than on amazon. I normally make my orders on Friday's after 4pm. This way, I have the entire weekend to make up my mind should I decide to cancel, since the orders remain open until Monday morning. The site has several shipping speeds available:
Normally, I always go over $25 for the free shipping, which is listed to take 3-7 days. The orders arrived around this time on every occasion except for one, because it was some how lost in the mail. 15 days passed by on this occasion and I sent an email about it. Customer service handled the issue quickly, and 3-7 days later the new order arrived. I also purchased movies from third party sellers with no problems at all, so I can't speak on how the site handles botched orders with them. I have no experience with the other shipping speeds, because I would never pay those prices for a movie or TV series.
The condition of the item is listed only in regards to the cover art being included or not. Whether the movie has scratches or not isn't mentioned. Although I never received a damaged DVD, this is still an area they can improve on because I have gotten movies with light scratches. Some people would more than likely appreciate a mention on these things.
The packaging is good for the most part. When ordering between 1-4 DVD's, they come in a strong cardboard box taped up pretty well that can fit inside of a mailbox(mine at least). 5 or more DVD's come in a bigger box that is delivered by the truck, and the boxes have stuffing in them to keep the cases from dancing around. I can't think of many occassions when the DVD's were loose and jumping around.
You can also sell your used DVD's. I haven't done this in a very long time, so I don't know of any changes that were made. However, I do remember that 3 years ago or so, the site would mail a check, and I never had a problem with cashing it in. You can also review movies, but I never done that or read other reviews.
The site also has a wishlist. If you have a movie on your list that is out of stock or a pre-release. The site will send you an email when it arrives. You can also ask to be notified of these titles.
Overall, DVD Empire is a site that I like and do recommend. Before taking the plunge on an expensive title on amazon, it would be wise to check there first. Now overall, amazon is my first choice only because of there incredibly large selection. But for the porn fans, I highly recommend this site to them.
Pros: -Easy to navigate, fantastic customer service, speedy delivery, great for porn fans
Cons: -Not a vast selection of anime and horror
