Darkest Fear - another Myron Bolitar mystery by Harlan Coben

The long-running Myron Bolitary series is a great mix of really funny one-liners/asides, action, and mystery. Myron is a sports agent, a business he started after being injured in his 1st pro basketball game, ending that career forever. His blue-blooded, hugely rich best friend Win is a bit of a psychopath who always is a vital part of the action part of each story.

This story revolves around finding a missing bone marrow donor for the teenage son Myron never knew he fathered. The mother contacts Myron to help in her desperate search for the missing donor, despite the hatred between him and her husband - who was behind the injury that ended Myron's pro career AND who doesn't know his son isn't his biological off-spring.

While going through every resource he can think of to find the missing donor, a link to an extremely wealthy and reclusive family emerges. This link causes all kinds of obstacles to Myron, and bypassing them while staying alive is a challenge.

A second link emerges, connecting the donor to a possible serial-kidnapper. The closer Myron gets to untangling the links, the more danger and risk he faces. How he solves all the stories and comes to grips with being a father makes for fast-paced reading as well as a lot of insight into Myron's character and background. Other books in the series are also good reads.
