Destiny is an Ancient Starship launched roughly 50 Million years ago. Destiny was built by the Ancients to explore the Universe. Once the ship got to a far enough distance they intended to board it. Unfortunaly due to other circumstances mainly the war with the Wraith, and most of the Ancients ascending it never came to be. Since then Destiny has been on a pre set course through out the Universe. That is until it was found by the Destiny Expedition in 2009.

Powered literally by the stars Destiny is capable of going into the lower atmosphere of a star to collect solar power, to replenish its reserves, it is able to do this even with the crew on board. Destiny's automated weapons systems despite being very old is still capable of defending the ship if it comes under attack. Its araments include numerous anti fighter batteries dotted around the hull and a massive ship to ship weapon located on the ventral side of the hull. Its primary defence are its shields.Preferring offense over defense when under attack the ship will transfer power from the shields to weapons. Due to the ships age although it can put up a fight, it cant fight long due to power issues. Even though the ship is old its FTL drive remains effective and is capable of traversing the void between galaxies in a short amount of time.

In addition to its very sophisticated autopilot the ship also has the ability to manipulate the brain waves of the crew on board and effect their dreams. The ship is also notible for featuring the prototype versions of many of the systems found on both Atlantis and Earth, these systems include the Stargate, the Ancient Chair, and Stasis pods.

Destiny is the Ultimate in exploration, traversing the final frontier for millions of years and still going strong. I hope that one day Stargate fans can get a proper ending to Stargate Universe.
