DVD cleaner that gets the job done.

I have a very bad habit of not keeping my DVD players or anything CD related clean. I'm usually going years without even attempting to clean the lenses of my equipment, and all too often it catches up to me. My DVD player for the last several months had been acting up; scratch free movies and CD's had been skipping, freezing, and several times just straight up not working. This was really a pain when I was trying to finish a series across multiple DVDs. I recently picked up this product and currently my player is working very well.

Digital Innovations, CleanDr Laser Lens Cleaner, is a single CD with 10 little strategically placed lens cleaner brushes on the surface in a spiral formation. Its purpose is to clean CD drives and DVD players due to dirt and dust build up. Once you play the disk, the audio instructions begin giving you the option of English, Spanish, and French languages. You follow the directions with your remote, which is VERY EASY to follow and in probably less than a minute your player will be clean and you can check it out.

At first I didn't believe it could have been done in such a short time, but I gave it a try after one use any way and I was forced to use it multiple times. I kind of doubt it was due to the product being sub-par or even garbage. I haven't cleaned my player in about six years, so I'm sure the lens was just too filthy.

The very detailed directions are on the back of the case and nothing comes on the inside. It's advised to change the disk once the brushes have become visibly worn. After 5 uses the brushes still look like I just opened the case. It's also mentioned to clean your player after 40 hours of use or every 3 months.

The directions also state not to use this on Blu-ray or PS3 systems. The reason for that is because this product is available for those systems. I saw them in the store, so yeah they do exist. You can probably pick this product up anywhere they sell electronics or DVD's. I picked up this one at FYE for around 5 dollars.

Now just in case if you pick up this product and your player is still acting up. My advice along with giving it a few more tries, is to clean the DVD or CD you're trying to use. I had to do that also, and since yesterday my player has been doing fine; no more freezes, no more unresponsive feedback. My only gripe is that I'm still unsure if the product really is all that great, since it took so many times to clean the player, but there's no way of proving this because I know my player had been mistreated.

I'm going to start taking it very serious to keep my stuff clean and working form now on, because my next step was to take it to a repair shop, and it burns me up knowing it could have came to that just for being lazy. If it seems like any of your disk players are acting up then give this a try.

Pros:
-DVD player has been working fine since

Cons:
-Nothing I can truly note

Yeah man keeping 'em clean is the right way to go, learned that the hard way. I hate paying for something new that could have been avoided.

It's a damn shame that it took this latest experience for me to realize this when it has happened before.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. The DVD player in my living room has some skipping problems once in a while, so this might be what I need.

Yeah, it's good to give something cheap like this a shot first before shelling out the dough to have it repaired.

I saw a product once that was probably made by the same guys. It was a DVD Doctor that fixes scratches and stuff. Thanks for the tip

It probably was. I think I saw that in FYE too.
