For colds or everyday use, Emergen-C is a fizzy drink mix-in with a mega-dose of vitamin C.  Available at Kroger and Walgreens, it costs $12-$13 US / box in the reviewer's area.

Pros:
+Simple to use; just mix and drink
+Mulitvitamin
+No medicine head (no antihistamines or decongestants)
+No prescription needed
+Tastes less bitter than cold syrup

Cons:
-Taste not as palatable as most drink mix-ins formulated for flavor
-Costs more than some cold remedies

Reviewer's Comment: Using Emergen-C, I actually felt better at the end of the day than worse, as I usually do with a cold.

I'm with you on the pros and cons!  Though I don't really take this as medicine and use it more as a supplement to prevent illness.  I pretty much only take it when I feel like I'm coming down with something.  Do you have any favorite flavors?  I've only ever had the tangerine flavor one and it was okay.

Or... if you rather take a similar product in a fizzy tablet (think Tums) form, you can also try "Airbourne". I have both in my cupboard.

Emergen-C
I don't know if it's clever marketing or the power of vitamin C but I love this stuff. The packet of magical orange powder makes me think of Tang, which naturally makes me laugh (Tang is so ghetto.)     Anyhow, you take the magical orange powder (also comes in other magical colors and flavors too) put it in a glass and add water.  This vitamin C filled beverage gives you an energy boost and wards off nasty germs that can make you sick. Did you know that Emergen-C is more …

About this topic

Wiki

Emer'gen-C is a dietary supplement drink mix which is sold as an energy booster. It contains more than 1600% of the USDA recommended daily allowance of vitamin C, 416% of the recommended vitamin B12 daily value, and 500% of the recommended vitamin B6 value based on a 2000 calorie diet. Some flavors also add calcium or lycopene.

Emer'gen-C is used by some consumers as an attempt to fight off or avoid the common cold. But the belief that large doses of vitamin C can be effective against colds is not held by the medical establishment and the bulk of scientific trials conducted on it
