Why didn't I get one of these things sooner???

Be warned, this is probably going to be one of my unsexiest reviews ever.  Not that my other ones were too sexy, but ya know.  I never thought I'd be writing about this totally unsexy topic, but I'm pretty juiced about this product, so here I go!  Up until I discovered this a couple of weeks ago, I had been switching between waxing and shaving.  Mostly shaving, which isn't too great for your skin.  I've even shelled out tons of money for laser hair removal before, and though it did help a bit, the hair still isn't totally gone.  So when I learned about Emjoi's line of epilators through a sample sale on HauteLook, I was instantly intrigued.

Out of all the dozen or so Emjoi epilators being sold on HauteLook during that sale, this particular Soft Caress one stood out to me the most because not only was it pretty and girly, but the description of it sounded perfect for me, and the price was reasonable.  I also liked that it's cordless, rechargeable, has 36 patented 24 karat gold plated hypoallergenic tweezer discs and is curved "because your body's curved".  Fancy stuff!  Unfortunately, it was obvious that I wasn't the only one who felt that way because it was one of few that was sold out by the time I checked out the sale (check out my review of HauteLook, hot items sell out fast!), so off to Google I went.

Upon Googling, I actually discovered another epilator, the Braun Silk, and became torn.  I read mostly positive reviews on both the Braun and Emjoi, but once I happened upon this video review that actually compared the two particular epilators that I was looking at, my mind was set.  The reviewer's first Emjoi lasted 6 years!

I ended up buying the Emjoi Soft Caress on Amazon for $50, about the same price as HauteLook.  It came with a leatherette pouch, power charger, cleaning brush, and a massaging finger attachment that I've yet to try.  After reading the directions and fully charging it for about 16 hours, I gave it a test run on my arm.  There are two settings, one that goes slower for finer hair, and one that goes faster for coarser hair.  The hairs on my arms are so fine that I never bother removing them, but I wanted to see it worked on fine hair.  It was wiped clean!  Then I tried it on coarser hair in my underarm with the same results.  It can also be used on the legs, bikini area, and upper and lower lips and chin.  The only place that the directions say not to use it on is the rest of the face as a shaver.  The hair removal process is only minorly uncomfortable, like a little sting, but it is way less painful than waxing and lasering!

I know I've only had this epilator for a couple of weeks, but after reading all the rave reviews about it, plus a very impressive test run, I feel pretty confident in declaring my love for it.  Even though I don't have too much hair to remove, I still keep looking for little stray hairs to remove just for kicks.  This epilator is still so cool to me!  This is the perfect tool for habitual waxers and shavers.  This is better than waxing because there's no pulling/stretching of the skin, plus no chance of burning, and this is better than shaving because this kind of hair removal doesn't leave your skin feeling harsh or with stubble, nor do you risk cuts.  And despite its girly look, I'm sure there are men out there who could appreciate it just as much as the ladies do, if they can get over the pinkish-purplish floral design.  Guys with hairy chests, I'm lookin' at you!  Actually, I think Emjoi has a very similar one in blue and white, too ;P

Definitely worth checking out!

The after effects of it are sexy, at least ;) I've had it for a bit over a month now, and I still love it! :D

If only your review came a little bit sooner! I just bought a pack of 18 disposable razors two days ago - so un-Eco of me! ;) What kind of green living enthusiast am I? :P Thanks for the review, I'll keep this in mind for the future!

You should check it out after you're through with them! Maybe even before then :P And I didn't even think about the money and the waste you could be saving; only EcoMama would think of that, but that's definitely a perk! :)
