EXTREME JUSTICE

I have always been a fan of the Lou, which is Lou Diamond Phillips. I have to get everything that the man does because if I am a fan I support you. This film was about a special secret task force inside the LAPD. Of course since that PD is a very infamous place this all makes sense. This film is full of good actors and some cool action moments. After rewatching this recently I had to write something up on it.

The film follows a young rookie cop [LDP] Jeff Powers as he keeps getting into trouble taking chances the department doesn't like. At the same time a special unit inside the force called S.I.S. loses a man during an operation and needs a replacement. The look to young Powers since one of the leaders [Scott Glenn] knew him. He gladly joins up but soon realizes he is in over his head once he sees how they operate. It turns out these guys wait for the crimes to actually take place so they can get justifiable kills. These leads to one event in which a woman is raped and Powers can't handle what this team is about.

Lou is excellent here as he always is and plays the hot head rookie just as well as the guy who does not like what is going on around him. Of course Scott Glenn is great as the friend turned enemy who plays with the young's head for as long as he can. The rest of the cast is great as well and the film flows nicely thanks to director Mark Lester. I will admit that the film is not original and at times the script needed some better dialogue but still I liked it.

This is a good flick that I would recommend to anyone looking to check out a police action/drama. Lou Diamond Phillips is great as he always is as is Scott Glenn. Not the best movie ever for sure but a good one none the less. Like I said The Lou is in it, that should be enough right there.
