WoW I am not a fan of this genre, so this was actually the first album that I bought and I truly loved it. This CD doesn't have many tracks, but big things come in small pacakges. I'd rather get 10-tracks that sound good then a 20-track CD with not much on it.

Pros: I like it.     Cons: I could do without "Hello" but that's just me.     The Bottom Line: I want to be in a field of paper flowers and candy clouds of lullaby.     I don’t know the real origins of Evanescence. Some people say they’re sort of Christian rock-type stuff. I wouldn’t know. What I do know is that I like their music. Some people think that this album is overrated. NOT ME, although they have been a tad overplayed on the radio. I am not some hard core fan of Evanescence nor Miss Amy (although they have received MUCH PUBLICITY). I enjoyed the whole album, especially "My Immortal" & "Tourniquet". The members of Evanescence are up for several Grammys & while I don't necessarily think that Evanescence is high caliber, I certainly wouldn't begrudge them a "Best New Artist" grammy over some of the other nominees that …

heavier music fronted by a female singer rarely reaches mainstream attention these days (if the atrocity known as Kittie comes to mind, they don't count because they awful and those vocals aren't really "female" IMO). Evanescene has been completely overhyped for their alleged originality, however. I'm saddened by these reviews to see nary a mention of the incredible Dutch band The Gathering, a group that has been doing this kind of thing for years and years. TheDaredevilsoundtrackprovided a nice boost for this previously unknown quartet from Little Rock, Arkansas. Evanescence’s songs "My Immortal" and the imposing "Bring Me to Life" are clear standouts in the film, mainly because they work so well with the dramatic, eerie undertones of the storyline. They reappear here on the band’s debut, alongside a selection of similarly brooding tracks that evoke pensive artists likeTori Amosand theCranberries.
