Sad to see what has become of the U.S. space program. Hope we keep some presence in outer space as tons of useful products and technologies have resulted from NASA. I agree with Sharrie. A bittersweet day indeed!

In my opinion, in the 70s we put more money into defense and less into the space program and with NASA not being supportd, we still are not on the Moon or Mars. Positive points are with the space stations and deep space probes. These don't get a lot of media attention, so the apparency might be that the space program is on the wane, but I don't think so. See the NASA website. They have a lot going on .
