By the early Middle Ages in Europe, the Europeans at that time accepted what is now TRUE that the Earth is spherical, and the fact that there's an organization of people in the 21st century that adhere to an extremely ancient falsehood makes me shake my head in shame.

Freedom of speech is the cornerstone of freedom in the Western world, but I sometimes think that stupidity like this should be punishable by law.

It is amazing that these folk don't realized that this whole "flat Earth" idea was spawned by an 1850 novelization of the voyage of Christopher Columbus. That novel was an international bestseller so the story that people believed in a flat Earth was accepted as "fact" when the real "fact" is that people always knew the world was round. It was only that they didn't know how far the Atlantic stretched so they didn't know if they would survive a voyage westward.

It's even more absurd considering that this organization is based in the US.
