Fans of Kurt Vonnegut will read "Flight", by Sherman Alexie and wonder if Kurt transferred his greatness to a new generation. As in many of Vonnegut's novels, Alexie uses his narrator as a way to explore history and social issues. "Zits", the narrator changes time period and place (just like Vonnegut's characters sometimes do.). To keep things interesting Zits magically changes bodies when he moves from place to place. His journey takes him from the moment of a terrible decision and back with a new set of experiences and a new philosophy to help him consider his actions. This perspective change keeps the pace of this story moving quickly and keeps the reader engrossed in the plot.
Alexie is a Native American, and his ability to weave his people's history into his novels is new to many readers. His skill with language and ability to keep detailed plot simple makes this a book that teachers should consider for their high school English class.

An exceptional novel, for story, for storytelling, and for getting into the head of a Native American. Alexie brings his magical word weaving to a tale of a boy whose life is changed by a flight through time and seeing through the eyes of others. You will believe every moment, and you will cheer for the ending.
