Another Compelling Thriller in Tight Spaces!

  • Feb 8, 2013
This is the second book for Hallie Leland a diver and a micrbiologist working for BARDA. She is asked to go to the Antarctic station to finish the work of her friend Emily Durant who died at the station. Hallie will need to make a dangerous dive to retreive a rare micro-organism. Hallie has limited time to do this because "Winterover" is about to begin which is the point where nothing can get in and out of the station for eight months.

When Hallie arrives two woman die right in front of her. Additonally, people act really weird from being in the isolated environment where temperatures outside hover close to 70 degrees below zero. Lastly, Hallie soon learns that Emily may have been murdered and since her murderer is probably still in the station, Hallie doesn't know who to trust.

This book is definately not for those who are claustrophobic (I said the same about Tabor's last book) as the descriptions by the author of the deadly cold all around and the detail descriptions of some of Hallie's dives makes the reader feel closed in too. The fact that through a good portion of the book the reader is not sure who is a definate bad guy makes the tension great, especially here where Hallie is on her own and just about everyone seems out to get her.

I would have given it the full five stars but to explain why would cause a spoiler but let's just say that the book is a very solid four stars.
