Geox's "Raptor" A comfortable, pricey shoe with an edge

I bought a pair of Geox "Raptor" shoes not too long ago and really like their sharp look.

STYLE  The Raptors lie somewhere in between casual footwear and dress shoes because though they are shoes made of black leather, the Velcro straps add a bit of stylish flair to what would otherwise be typical shoes.

Another great quality is how the they wrap around the foot in a natural, sleek fashion, as opposed to bulky Vans or your basic Converse.  I reserve these shoes for fun nights out to add spark to a low-key outfit.

COMFORT:  Geox shoes feature a perforated sole that expel perspiration from your feet to keep them dry and comfy.  They also have a membrane that prevents water from coming in to the shoe, so they call it the world's only "breathable" shoe.  The Raptors are a good walking shoe, but aren't as flexible as a more casual tennis shoe.  They are best used for parties, going out at night or casual strolls.

PRICE:  Expensive, about $170 but I don't mind to splurge for a good-looking pairs of shoes that will last a long time AND are comfortable to wear for long periods.

Overall, I trust the Geox brand and these flashy shoes are good for a typical "LA" outfit of fitted jeans with a collared shirt + jacket to differentiate yourself from the crowd, just a bit.

Plus, Velcro is cool when done right.

Excellent walking shoes with great designs. I love Geox especially in the winter and for work when I'm in a cold country.

About this topic

Wiki

Geox ranks as the Number 1 Retailer in Italy for casual footwear and Number 3 in the world.

The company was founded in 1995 by Mario Moretti Polegato. The brand name, Geox, was created from a mixture between the Greek word "geo" (earth, on which we all walk), and "x", a letter-element symbolizing technology.

Polegato was born in 1952  near Treviso. Originally groomed to take over the family wine-making business, company promotional material has it the idea for the shoe came when he participated in a wine industry conference in Reno; while out jogging in Reno's hot desert climate, his feet got hot from the exertion and he had the idea to cut a couple of holes in the soles of his shoes with a Swiss Army knife.

He developed the idea into a viable product with the help of a small leather-goods business his family owned.

After unsuccessfully pitching his invention to several established footwear manufacturers, but after having passed the market testing phase for a line of children's footwear, Mario Moretti Polegato began large-scale production of shoes under the Geox brand name. That same year, he improved the original patent and extended the product range to men's and women's footwear.
