So simple, yet just so good.  Probably won't take this one to the veranda for a relaxing read these days, but as a kid, there was no better story better suited for sending you off to sleep.  It is quite simply a materialization of how a child's mind works: just repeat the same phrase over and over, but with different items in the room.  Absolute gold.  The artwork is fun, and the colors are vivid, perfectly suited for a young mind, and really, for any interested reader young or old.  There are countless reasons why I wouldn't hesitate to pick the book up if I found it among my old belongings one of these days, but nostalgia ranks above them all.  It is quite simply a staple of childhood, of growing up.  I don't know of anyone who hasn't read the book, and isn't a better person for it.  Just the title Goodnight Moon brings waves of memories and can stir up hours of conversations, simply by virtue of the unifying nature of such a genuinely great children's book.  Don't have children yet, and don't plan on it soon, but whenever it happens, a copy of this book will be the first purchase I make.

I started reading this to my youngest daughter before bed when she was little and we still read it every night, and we still enjoy it just as much as when she was 2. I love how you can look at the world in a different way through this book and how it can bring you right back to the begining in the turn of a page. My daughter loves the book cause she can say good night to all the different objects and charachters in the book. I think we will be reading this for many years to come and maybe she will …
