Author Melissa Foster continues her Sisters series with this second title, Sisters in Bloom. Wild sister Kaylie is the blooming one. While Danica, Blake and Chaz undoubtedly play their parts in this novel, the story is Kaylie’s as she faces a changing world.
After working her way up the ladder of a blooming musical career, pregnant Kaylie now faces the danger of losing everything she’s hoped for. Rejection slips mount, and the failure they promise is only compounded by hormonal irrationality, plus a nagging feeling that she’ll never live up to her uber-successful sister. While others try to help her, and wondrous Chaz stays true, circumstances and misunderstandings conspire to keep Kaylie’s path tortuously uncertain. Meanwhile Danika’s proving better at solving other people’s problems than her own, and the wounds of the past threaten to damage her hopes for the future too. Love interests Blake and Chaz, and a circle of friends whose backstories wait to be told, all gather around while an evil ex-girlfriend plots in the eaves.
Sisters in Bloom tells the trials and tribulations of pregnancy convincingly and well, from hormonal overload to pregnant lovemaking, all the way to childbirth. Meanwhile the trials of love and miscommunication continue as couples destined for each other deal with the mysteries of their different pasts. Some characters beg for more story time to themselves, and I hope the author will continue and tell their tales in later volumes. Meanwhile, this novel ends on a high-note of enjoyable completion, with one set of problems safely resolved, lives reordered, and many joys to come.
