I caught a sneak peek of one of the Green Lantern animated series episodes on Cartoon Network before its release in 2012. I wasn't expecting much, but I guess for a sneak peek, it proved to be interesting.

The episode was called "Beware my Power" and deals with Hal Jordan and Kilowog's run-in with a new cadre of Lanterns whose rings are powered by a strange red energy. The details of the script could easily be connected by readers of the GL comic series because of its strong references to it.

The animation work was good, but could stand some improvements on the details area, hair animation is lacking and some features feel doll-like. But the movements are smooth and fluid, so I guess this may have been its intention. Designs seem inspired by the JLU animated series but this one was made from CGI.

I am still going to take a look for the rest of the series since story telling and dialgue are really the ones that can make or break an animated series.

I caught this too, and I really liked the fact that they tossed the Red Lanterns in right off the bat. I watched an interview with one of the writers of this series, and he said that they wanted to make the Reds as vicious as possible. I hope they do!

My expectations for the animated series is pretty low, since previews of the CGI-generated series haven’t been exactly impressive. Well, developed by Bruce Timm and co-produced by the same folks who did “Ben …
