This application has way to many bugs! Dated Sept. 30, 2010

So recently I heard about Groupme.com at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference. It is a mobile application that you can get for free (only good thing). It allows you to add people into a "group". After selecting who you would like to be in your group, it sends the same mobile phone number to everyone you have selected. By texting this number selected for your "group" you can then text message to each other and see whateverone says...example it will show up as Danielle Z.: (then her message). Its kinda like a private chat room for your friends or "group" that you have selected only via text messaging.
FOR MY REVIEW...
Last night I had the pleasure of downloading this exciting new application to my iPhone. I was extremely excited to set up a group so I began selecting people I wanted in my group...I had put 300 people into my group. I figured I would set up my group, but not activate it until i was ready to start a chat between the group. All of a sudden I got 750 text messages from all my friends who had texted the number back. Mind you there was no option to activate the group and it just did it automatically. I was up all night trying to email the guys at groupme.com and had no response. I understand they were asleep but their company was recently launched and if I was CEO i would make sure I had someone on it 24 hours a day to monitor support esp. after the Tech Crunch Disrupt conference. There was no way for me to remove my account nor to delete the group! So this literally went round and round in circles of people texting ... what is this? Who is this? how does this work? It was so stupid. And to top it off the command to exit the group was to text #exit to the number...well that didnt work so basically after writing the CEO and support team via twitter and email all last night I finally got a response from them this morning indicating that I had found a bug and that you could not add more than 25 people to a group... yeah well I had 300 thanks. Also The commands to exit or remove yourself from the group weren't working. These guys get a percentage (I'm assuming) from the standard text messaging rates. So because they had a bug in their system...keep in mind after huge media coverage at Tech Crunch...smart moves guys...they probably made 500 bucks last night off of us because of their faulty software. Now I know what your thinking I am a hater...no I actually think this is a genius program I just think that A) you need to confirm a group manually before they send out a number to have people join the group, I mean what if I select someone by accident and now theyre in my group? and B) they need to work out the majority of the bugs before doing a huge launch and doing big media coverage! I think that this is so unprofessional. I feel they scammed us all! And to be honest I feel terrible because I enjoyed the application.. for what it was worth or worth to them! I am a huge supporter of start ups and was so thrilled for these guys and was rooting for them but unfortunately they let me down and underperformed my expectations. I was happy to get a call from the CEO this morning asking me what went wrong and how they could fix it. So on the customer service side I give them a 4 out of 5.
Now with that being said I feel it is unfair because they had a bug in their system or whatever me and my friends should get penalized from this!
Thanks Groupme.com you def are starting out great!...=/
Woah woah, 300 people? I've been using GroupMe for a few groups of friends, but no group is bigger than 8 people. I think a reply-all text based chat with even 30 people would be too big. It sucks that there was a bug that let you create a group of 300 but I don't think that is what they intended to be.
