One of the biggest surf shops in Southern California but they've sold out to the big brands.

This store has been around as long as I can remember. Located on the corner of Main and PCH directly across from the found HB Pier, this store has a prime location. I recently had to go there on short notice because I wanted to get a gift for my friend. I wanted to buy my friend a surfboard bag and was forced to go to this store. I've shopped here before and I have to say that this store isn't designed for local surfers. This store caters to tourists and people who have no idea that surf stores make a killing on what they sell. I walked into the store and tried to bargain with them on the surfboard bag but every answer I got was "I don't have the authority to give that discount, you have to talk to a manager. Oh, by the way, the manager isn't here right now. " I ask them, "what time is the manager going to be back?", and they aren't able to give me an answer on that. I get it, being in the location that they're in, they get a lot of tourists but how many of them are buying surfboard bags? The store definitely isn't interested in taking care of local surf clientele but are more concerned about eeking out every dollar from every customer possible.
I'll give this store credit for carrying a large stock of merchandise and have a pretty nicely organized, well staffed store. I recommend this place for checking out things you may want to buy, then going to surf shop that cares about equipping local surfers to hit the waves. A prime example of a store like this is ET Surfboards in Hermosa Beach.
Don't expect go get a discount from HSS Surf if you're a bargain shopper like me. They aren't interested in working with you to get to a place where you would be happy with your purchase.
