Great day to just kick back and watch horror flicks all day. But I prefer it to fall on the weekend though. Breaking night watching horror flicks on the weekend is a lot easier to do.

True, that.

yep.

I agree; watching the horror movies and doing nothing else is great; a nice thunderstorm at the same time would make it even better!

For atmosphere, yes. However, that happened one year and we lost electricity and it ruined my movie marathon!

I didn't think of that at the time LOL -- that would suck for sure...maybe just a nice downpour of rain would suffice?!?!

It worked out though, since I ended up reading Poe by candlelight.

You can't get much better than Poe - I have a book of his complete works and I love it -- still haven't finished it though.

Yeah, some heavy rain and insane dark usually helps on those days.
October 27, 2011
Yes it does -- dark, dreary and creepy....!

Love Halloween
October 27, 2011
It's a cool day for me.

October 20, 2011
I agree...but I usuallly get drunk that I may not even remember what I saw...
October 20, 2011
LMAO! I only do that on Valentine's Day with romantic comedies... who wants to remember that crap anyway?!
October 20, 2011
I try to stay sober on Valentine's day IF I am not seeing anyone....after all, BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BEERHOLDER LOL!!
October 26, 2011
LMAO - Woo; you're a hoot!!
October 27, 2011
I'll never go out and get drunk on Halloween. Heard too many stories.

October 20, 2011
Absolutely! Do you have any specific movies you plan on giving a view?
October 27, 2011
I plan on peeping Salem's Lot, Halloween, Exoricist, and the rest of the line up will indeed vary.

Admittedly, Halloween is not my favorite holiday.  However, I do like the festivities and the energy and joy it brings out in some people.  Trick or Treating was never my thing, though.  Even as a kid.  That's not to say I never went Trick or Treating (what kid doesn't like getting lots and lots of candies?).  Trick or Treating has given me some of my best introduction to some of the best candies that I never eat anymore.  If I had to be honest, I just …

Quite possibly, my favorite holiday of the year to pay our respects to the departed or eat candy & then pump insulin into your veins.

Almost treated like a holiday, Halloween has become more fun for adults than the children....really brings out the kid in some folks.

I love having an excuse to dress up with all my friends! :)

Lady Macbeth was right. It is indeed the eyes of the child that fears the painted devil!

History

Halloween has origins in the ancient Celticfestival known as Samhain [pronounced: sow- wen] (Irish pronunciation: from the Old Irish samhain, possibly derived from Gaulish samonios). The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture, and is sometimes regarded as the "Celtic New Year".Traditionally, the festival was a time used by the ancient Celtic Pagans to take stock of supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. The ancient Celts believed that on October 31st, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the living and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which the bones of slaughtered livestock were thrown. Costumes and masks being worn at Halloween goes back to the Celtic traditions of attempting to copy the evil spirits or placate them, in Scotland for instance where the dead were impersonated by young men with masked, veiled or blackened faces, dressed in white.

Origin of name

The term Halloween, originally spelled Hallowe’en, is shortened from All Hallows’ Even ("All Hallows' Eve") [eve is an abbreviation of even, an older word for evening. Halloween gets -een as a contraction of even to e'en], from the Old English term eallra hālgena ǣfen meaning "All Hallow' Evening", as it is the eve of "All Hallows’ Day", which...
