If you have ever owned a pair of these you know that they totally rock. They seem to last forever considering they are flip flops and seem designed for abuse and extended use. For the Brazilians the beach is a way of life, especially those who live in Rio, so it's not uncommon to find millions of people in Brazil wearing these every day.
While I lived there, I probably picked up about a dozen pairs. As a surfer, and somebody who spends immense amounts of time at the beach, these have been one of my most useful investments. The standard pair are marked by a solid color with a small Brazilian flag. There are of course patterned ones as well with floral patterns, flags, and many more.
In terms of pure comfort, these things can't be beat. They make you feel like you are walking on sponges. For the price tag about 6 bucks, these things can't be beat.

Havaianas is a Brazilian brand of flip-flop that gained world recognition in 1998 after the company developed a style of the sandals for the World Cup that featured the Brazilian flag. Although Havaianas flip-flops have only become wildy popular in the United States in the last five years after many celebrities were seen wearing them, the brand has been around since 1962. The brand's famous slogan "Havaianas. The Real Ones." originated in the 1970s as a response to other companies making knock-off versions of the flip-flops. The shoes are known for their comfortable soles and straps. The name Havaianas means Hawaiians in Portuguese.
