Have you ever been so obsessed with something that it feels like it will never leave your system? Chelsea Cain's book called Heartsick shows detective Archie Sheridan battling his own demons from a case he had worked on involving Gretchen Lowell. Archie is called upon a new case years later dealing with another serial murderer like Gretchen was. Gretchen is very similar to Hannibal Lector from Silence of the Lambs. She is cunning and evil. Archie was tortured and kidnapped by Gretchen. The story would often flash back to the past so the reader gains an understanding to what Archie went through. He also has a scar of a heart across his chest from the torture. A reporter named Susan Ward obtains the assignment to profile Archie. Susan ends up getting pulled into more than she bargained for. She learns more about Archie than she ever planned to and has great material for her report. If you are in for a suspenseful novel that will keep you on edge through the entire book, this is the book to check out. Chelsea Cain's debut novel is a stellar piece of fiction and will stay with you for a long time to come.
