When Speed Is Of The Escence.

The main problems with printers is that you never really know when they are going to start breaking down or if they may just up and quit on you. It may seem like there is something wrong in one part of the printer but the rest of it is just running fine. That is why the printer makers only make them to last 4 to 5 years. I guess if you get that many years out of a printer then it is time to start looking for a new one before you are in the middle of a project and the printer leaves you hanging. Just recently, I found out that when you send a fax and when it gets to where it is going to and it is of bad quality, it is a sign that your printer was getting to old and is on life support. That is why I had to call the HP tech support. They told me that the life span on a printer such as mine was only 4 to 5 years.

When he told me this that is when we started discussing about purchasing an upgrade for my printer. We spent quite a while on the phone with the tech person and when it was all said and done we decided on the HP Photosmart  Premium Fax All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Fax, Copier, model number C309. I can still use my old printer while we are using the new one. The new one is a wireless one, so you can set it up anywhere and use it on any PC in your control. The HP Tech support team was very helpful and stayed on the phone no matter how many questions that I had. We finally ended up paying $246 for the printer, $114 for the extra ink cartridges, and only $42 for the extended two year warranty. The original price of this printer was $400, so yes I can say that it pays to call tech support they gave me a great deal.

Description
You can purchase this type of printer at your local Office Max, Office Depot, and even Best Buy, but they could not beat the price that the HP team gave me. This printer is really cool and has two trays to load all of your printer paper, 125 sheets to be exact. This printer only weighs a little under 25 pounds and is approximately 19" wide x 19" deep x 12" high, this has an automatic feed system and can copy double sided documents at the same time. No more flipping the pages over to get them copied right.

We have Windows 7 operating system and this print is working properly with our system. Whether you are printing color or just black you will be able to print 32 to 33 pages per minute. The color print resolution is 9600 x 2400 dpi, the black only resolution is 600 x 600 dpi. Even though my old printer had a little bit larger LCD screen, the 2.4" LCD color screen that comes on this printer is sufficient. The printer capability will let it accept a memory card as large as 32 GB and will accept many different types such as: Compact Flash, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, Secure Digital/MultimediaCard, Secure Digital High Capacity Card, xD-Picture Card. You also get direct photo printing from devices such as Bluetooth, memory cards, pictbridge cameras, USB mass storage devices.

For you printing needs this printer will do borderless prints from the smallest wallet photos all the way up to regular photos  8 ½" x 11" in size. Along with the usual features of printing and copying and faxing this will also take pictures off of CD's and DVD's and print them in vivid and spectacular colors. Since  the main reason that we  had to purchase the new printer was because of the scanner and the sending of faxes, this feature was very important to us, and that the printer  was as good as we could afford.  It only took one week to get the printer from the company, that's not bad to be able to get a new printer and never leave the house. The scanner part of this printer has a resolution of 4800 dpi and can be enhanced up to 19200 dpi, this is a 48 bit scanner.

The fax part of this printer only takes three seconds to fax a document to someone, and you will be able to receive up to 90 incoming faxes at one time. You can also copy up to 50 pages at one time without having the printer to have to cycle itself. When you are doing a lot of faxing to the same person, this printer will allow you to save 90 numbers under the speed dial option. This HP Photo Smart printer will be compatible with Windows XP, Linux, Windows Vista, Apple MacOS X 10.4 and 10.5, Windows Vista 64 operating systems. This printer comes with 64MB of installed ram and the maximum memory is also 64MB.
Experience
When we first purchased this printer from the HP tech team we really were not sure whether or not we were getting a deal, until one week later when we received everything and saw that it was in perfect order. This was as simple as they said it would be in hooking it up. Once we installed the software and followed the prompts we have been able to print from anywhere in our house and from any other pc or wireless device that comes into our house.

We have several pc's, and Bluetooth phones that take pictures and by just setting up your printer through the printer menu you can print any pictures that are on your phone. Of course they may not be as good a quality as ones taken with a regular camera but they will be sufficient. I have yet to find a camera phone that allows you to have good quality photos transferred to any printer.

Our faxing problem was solve by just purchasing a new printer, because the scanning part of the old HP printer was starting to go bad. Now we have speed and high quality at our fingertips. With the addition of being able to send double sided faxes makes this a lot easier chore on our part. Also, we now can send legal size documents (11" x 14"), when we had to send anything like this before, we would have to send two copies a lower half and an upper half and tell the recipient to tape and overlap them,  to get the whole document to them. Now we don't have to do that.

The speed and quality that this printer puts out, puts our other  printer to shame, we did not realize that we were that far behind the times. Our old printer will not be deemed dead yet, because it still has some usefulness left, such as the capability of scanning negatives and old slides onto our computer. This feature allows me to put these pictures from my PC onto a DVD or CD with music. Even though I do not do it for money my family loves it and is amazed at what I can do with the proper printer.

Conclusion
For the most part, all I can say about this printer it is everything that the company can say about it. This may be a little more than you can afford for a printer, but you get what you pay for. If you buy a cheap one you will be lucky to get a couple of years out of it. This one will give you at least five years of service and if you are depending on making money or sending important documents from your home then this is the way to go. We have been very happy with the ease of use and how user friendly this printer really is. You can also tuck this away in some corner because it is wireless, so not to allow it to take up too much space. This is worth every penny that we had to pay for it and we never had to leave the house. Five stars for this model. One more thing this is no more noise than any other printer on the market that I can tell.
