Welcome aboard! I hate it when I post a contrasting opinion that gets ignored so I thought I'd drop a response to your inquiry.  I encourage you to read some of the negative reviews and the comments about them, but a lot of it has to do with the frustration over the direction the industry is taking in general and also the aggressive and overbearing stance of the fan communities that supports these types of anime.

"It's clear in his words that he didn't even bother to read why we hate this anime so much."

Exactly. His blanket statement concerned me. That's why I encouraged him to read some of your negative reviews to get a more informed opinion.  As far as I know, he might be just a kid who doesn't know how this site works (he might be expecting something more in the vein of Amazon.com).  I want to encourage everyone on this site with open arms to a) share their view without fear of hostility as well as b) consider all sides of the equation. Whether or not he actually chooses to do b) is up to him.  If he did it though, it would be good for him as well as prove to us he's not just posting "vine" reviews.

Right. I've had plenty of bad experiences with these types too. I just choose not to return the same venom upon them they've heaped upon me. In my internet travels, I've discovered that some of them just really are confused...they think like a "vine" because that's how the community has educated them. Chastising them would simply further their conviction to follow the mass opinion and not think for themselves. After all, many of them are "teens". But given that HorrorJo hasn't responded yet, you might be right. Perhaps there is no hope . Of course HorrorJo, you are free to prove us otherwise

Bombastic, Stylish, Sexy, Crude Anime Zombie Series That Wallows In Adolescent Fantasies....
I wasn’t really expecting much when I saw the first season (12 episodes) of “High School of the Dead” and being based on the manga series by Daisuke Sato and Shoji Sato, I have to admit, it wasn’t exactly my type of anime series. However, I would be lying if I said that the anime series and the direction by Tetsuro Araki didn’t know who their target audience were. A lot of male teenage Japanese kids and even those adult males who loved “Ikki Tousen” would …

I've heard a lot of things about High School of the Dead, but mostly how it's a combination of zombie horror and anime fan service. I was convinced by a few respectable anime fans that this anime was garbage, but since I just got a mini vacation from the university, I thought that it's been a while since I smashed a terrible anime into a million pieces, and since High School of the Dead was free to watch for Amazon Prime members on their instant video library, I put my sights on …

I already eviscerated High School of the Dead with my full review, but I feel like doing some more.      Much like Elfen Lied, High School of the Dead is a deliberate attempt by the animators to cram in all the worst clichés of the anime genre in the attempts to rake in large amounts of cash from fickle anime fans (in which there's no shortage of).      This anime is full of characters flatter than crepes, gobs of goofy action scenes without a …
