Hummingbirds the tiniest & cutest birds ever,I call them my sugar babies

One day I noticed this tiny fluttering in my butterfly bushes!! I was so surprised...oh wow!! a hummingbird !!! I hurried out to get the feeders, I  bought 8 feeders , now that is enthusiastic!! lol, then I bought the nectar yup you got it, 8 bottles !!! Plus the powder mix & 3 bags of sugar, as my neighbors said, oh mix sugar water for them, they need that energy. Thus my sugar babies.
What is interesting...those little buggers know us!! they flutter around my head & my shoulders when I am watering the plants !! ya.......how cute is that? They also come back to the same place each year !! how smart is that? Yes the same ones!!!
I planted a red trumpet around the post of the front patio next to a Rose of Sharon Tree ,that took 3 yrs to produce red trumpets..and thick, wow, I tell you what..they stay in there (the babies) when they are up here!! Now I planted a honeysuckle bush,Salvia,Winky Double Dark Blue & white Columbines,Perennial Bee Balms, let me tell you, hummingbirds love bee balms!! They just about live eating at the bee balms !!and the bee balm spreads fast,so you can either let them go & spread or dig down & move them to another area or give them away !! The Butter Fly /hummingbird flowers take up the entire front of the patio, and the humming birds love those!!
I put sugar water in the red feeders & nectar in the plain feeders(no color) I make the sugar water really sweet, like 2 cups of sugar to 2 qts of water, sometimes even more sugar....they love that, they like that better then the nectar !!! Thus I call them my sugar babies.
Last year.I had come home on Mother's Day, sat at the kitchen table looking out at the gloomy day, along came my male hummer from the years before!! at my patio window, just saying hello, we are here!! So I put up the rest of the feeders.
I was bending down one day pulling weeds, my neighbor was yelling, a bird is on your head, I couldn't understand her,3rd time I heard her & looked up & off she flew!!!
I have all kinds of humming bird plants that come back each year, can't remember what they are,but I am like the hummingbird house!!!
I look forward to their return each year..I even put feeders up early, for the large ones that come through early, they have something.....I will be interested in this chat!! Happy Lunch chat !!!,Joan (Lady4)

Wow, that is so cute! I love hummingbirds despite the fact I only saw one in person maybe once! I live in the Northeast, so my only hope for seeing them is if I travel south. Thanks so much for sharing, it was fun to read :)

By the way, I changed the topic to just Hummingbird because we want to keep the topics factual, without opinion. The review is where you can put things like "I call them my Sugar babies". :) For more clarification you can read what is a topic and what it is not. About this topic

Wiki

They are among the smallest of birds, and include the smallest extant bird species, the Bee Hummingbirds. They can hover in mid-air by rapidly flapping their wings 12–90 times per second (depending on the species). They can also fly backwards, and are the only group of birds able to do so. Their English name derives from the characteristic hum made by their rapid wing beats. They can fly at speeds exceeding 15 m/s (54 km/h, 34 mi/h).
