I'm just reviewing the new Incubus album, available now on Spotify.
From the opening track it sounds alot bigger, and a little more arty that unusual. Its a bit of an epic and missing the funk rock that I was used to with Incubus. The vocals are still pretty identifiable as incubus however!
To be honest I'd like to review all the tracks but at around 5 minutes each I can't tell you much difference between the first three.
I've woken up again at the track Thieves with some electric guitar, but after about 10 seconds its slipped back into soundscapes and noises.
Hey how about it track 7 has some acoustic and some powerful singing, a real song. Not a bad track but I think its missing one of two of the thousand soundscapes or instruments/noises that where wailing through the last 20 minutes of music. None the less a nice wake up and could definately grown on me!
Ok, i see a 7 minute mammouth track approaching and its an intersting folk mix that makes me think of mid 70's american rock at the same time.
Switchblade is track 9 and makes a change with some heavy distorted drumming and some fun breakdowns that I can easily see being remixed a few times with a catchy vocal.
The next track 10 takes a long time to get going for me but after the one minute mark your on to a big rock production with technical guitar and typical off melody plucking that keeps you interested for the rest of the way. I'm still waiting for my heavy distortion chorus on a song though...will I get it in the last song?
anyway a vague first listen and not a bad album for tripping....can't single out many songs for you though apart from 7 and 9. but i'll give it another go after a whisky!
