Canada's Gord Bamford Crosses Borders With Latest Release

Over the last few years, it has been hard to find CD's that are true country music.  No label pressure - no radio pressure.  When I got Gord Bamford's latest album in the mail and began listening, I was instantly blown away!  Gord was born in Australia, but was raised in Canada.  That's right, country music isn't just in these United States.  He was raised on a farm in Alberta.  As a kid he played hockey as well as being a member of the local 4-H.  Over the years he has developed his career while still remember how important Community is to him.  In between shows, Gord Bamford does charity events with youth charities around Canada including the 4-H.

"Gord Bamford is a true country boy, devoted family man, skilled entertainer, and very successful, multi-award winning Canadian Country Music Artist. He has written and recorded songs with some of Nashville’s greatest and shared the stage with Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Brooks & Dunn, and the legendary George Strait. His JUNO and CCMA awards and nominations are plentiful. Gord is realizing his dream and using his success to create opportunity, strengthen community, and effect positive change for kids."

If you are looking for a great country CD with a sound that combines the likes of Easton Corbin, Josh Turner, and Rodney Atkins, you have found it in "Is It Friday Yet?"  Whether you want a fun love song ("Must Be A Woman"), heart wrenching ballad ("Nothing Hurts As Bad As A Broken Heart"), or just a feel good country song ("I Call I Country"), this CD has it all!

Recently I put Matt Kennon's "Music That Matters" on my top albums of 2012 - while this one is on the list too!  If you don't purchase the whole CD I advise you to at least head over to iTunes and give a few songs a listen. There isn't a bad note on the disc, but here are a few of my top songs.
  • "Disappearing Tail Lights" - As Gord puts it, this song has a Merle Haggard feel to it.  I am a huge fan of the bridge between classic country and contemporary - this song is able to do just that.  In addition to the feel of the song being perfect the lyrics do not disappoint.  "Disappearing Tail Lights/It hurts to see her leaving/sure didn't plan on being on my own/now she's almost out of site/and suddenly it hits me/she's 'bout to be a memory when she's gone"  This isn't a sappy goodbye song.
  • "Nothing Hurts As Bad As A Broken Heart" - If you've read enough of my reviews, you know I'm a sucker for a good ballad.  I get a vibe of a Rodney Atkins song while listening to NHABAABH.  Gord has summed the song up best "The title pretty much sums this up, everyone can relate if you are human.  One of the most beautiful, lyrically melodically songs I have ever been a part of."
  • "You Make It Better" - This is the perfect feel good song - both musically and lyrically.  The lyrics tell a tale of no matter what kind of day it is, coming home to a woman makes it better.  The fun instrumentation just makes you want to dance and sing along.

Do yourself a favor and go to iTunes now.  It's hardworking artists like this that appreciate just a download or two (I'm sure he would like you even more by purchasing a CD).  If not, follow him on twitter @GordBamford or "like" him on Facebook Facebook.com/GordBamford1.  This is one Canadian I would love to see more of in the US soon.
