Izzy Alcantara and the Most Unusual Baseball Fight of All Time
Sep 4, 2009
Izzy Alcantara was a notorious minor leaguer for the Boston Red Sox. His trademarks were an incredible amount of talent combined with equal parts insanity and hot-headendness. I gave him a 5 out of 5, not because I like him, respect him or his talent, or would be happy to bump into him on the street. He gets a 5 out of 5 from me based truly on his insanity, his martial arts skills, and the shock, horror, laughter and WATFO incredulity it has provided to me. The below video sums it all up. Notice that the pitch that sets him off is not even a bean ball. Christ, it may even be an inside strike. What a crazy SOB.

Izzy Alcantara is a baseball player who played mainly in the Boston Red Sox organization. He was widely known for having an extremely quick temper and being a bit of a loose cannon. While he showed extreme talent in the minor leagues, he is most widely remembered for an incident while he was playing with the Pawtucket Red Sox of Boston's AAA affilaite when, after an inside pitch, Izzy karate kicked the catcher in the mask before charging the mound. The incident is best seen on video:
While Alcantara was one of the better players in the minor leaguses, his success didn't translate to the Major Leagues.
