There has been no shortage of blankets made over the years that have featured the band KISS on them. Heck, I've seen entire bed sets with the group's famously painted faces all over them. This particular review refers to a blanket that was available exclusively at Wal-Mart whenever the band released their latest studio album, Sonic Boom (2009).
If memory serves me correctly, there were three blankets available. One featured the faces of all four of the current members of the band. Another featured the cover art for Sonic Boom. The third one, and the one that I picked up, was the one featuring artwork from the Love Gun cover.
The blanket features all four original members of the band standing together as on the album cover, but doesn't include the columns or KISS worshipping ladies. It also features the famous KISS logo, with red and yellow highlights.
Despite being somewhat thin, this fleece blanket is very, very warm. I often use it to relax while watching TV on the sofa, as does my daughter when I'm not hogging the blanket. My son likes to sleep with it at night. My wife, who hates KISS and all things KISS related, won't even look at it!
I've found a number of this blanket and the others offered on seller's websites now. They are marked up quite a bit from the original Wal-Mart price of $10. However, if you're a hardcore fan and somehow missed out on these blankets when they were originally available, you can pick them all up if you're willing to pay.
Personally, I don't buy a lot of KISS collectible items with the intention of boxing them up for all eternity. I buy them because A) I like the band and B) I need whatever the band's name happens to be slapped on. At the time, I needed a blanket, so I bought this one.
