I can't say this is a must have, as you would do fine with a regular baby thermometer (rectal or ear). But, if you have the money to spare or looking for something to spend your FSA dollars on - you will never regret this purchase! When you have a sleeping baby with a fever, this is a life saver! Have you tried taking the temperature of a sleeping infant? If you have, you know what I am talking about.

This Kidz Med thermometer is extremely easy to use, just open the tip, hold an inch or so away from the middle of the child's forehead, and press the button. The reading is instant and accurate. It also stores your past readings, so it is very handy and you don't need to keep track on your own. It is just as useful for taking the temperature of anything, your indoor temperature, water, food, outdoors, you name it. All without even touching the surface of whatever it is you are measuring. You can set it to Celcius or Fahrenheit, friendly to Americans and the rest of the world alike.

The great thing about it is that it can be used for all family members and it is totally hygienic.  You don't need a special baby thermomer, another one for food, a separate one for adults, etc... Just one, all-in-one Kidz Med! The design is nice, although I wish it came in other colors, not just hospital white. You can expect to pay anywhere from $70 - $100, depending on where you buy it. There are probably other companies that make no-touch thermometers, but by other reviews I found this one to be one of the most reliable.
