FILL Life, Feel Life!

  • Dec 26, 2009
Life is... what you deem it to be; its meaning is... what you prescribe to it.

It is about living to one's fullest capabilities, hopes and courage. It is about forgiving oneself, others and possibly even God for not turning out the way you wish or expect it to be. It is about accepting, it is about being and it is in the act of living itself. To live life is to have new hopes each day, week and year. It is all encompassing, it is all divine. It therefore is simply life itself.

  • To me, life is about forgiving oneself for one's failures; one's inability to live to the fullest, incapability to love to one's best & most of all, forgiving ourselves for whatever that we feel we have not been able to do as we wish.
  • Having forgiven oneself (do it on a daily basis if you wish), one can move on. The next day is a new day, the next week is a new year, and the next year is a new life.
  • The ability to forgive ourselves for whatever reason/s, we are then able to forgive others for their trespassing.
  • As a child, I was educated in a catholic school. Each morning we say the Lord's Prayer without clearly understanding its meaning & significance. Having lived half my life now though and having gone through some uncontrollable circumstances, I begin to hear the real message:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
[For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.]

Inner Peace
  • The world is in so much turmoil because we each have in ourselves our own war and battle to fight. Instead of accepting, we each try to chart a course that we think life ought to be. We fight not only against each other, we even fight within ourselves. Hence, no inner peace translated to much pain and instability in this world that even the climate begins to defend itself against humans! Until the day each and everyone of us is able to find the kingdom in ourselves, we'll possibly hard pressed to find the kingdom of God.
  • Someone once told me that smile and the world smiles with you. Conduct your own affairs, be true to your own life and love and you will be doing the world a great mission. There is no need to go around the world to preach if each of us simply be our divine self. Just mind your own and the world will mind itself! Your only responsibility is to find true happiness yourself. Be true, have the pure heart of a child and be as happy as you can, the world will right itself overnight! Alright, that may sound easy and may be even childish for the cynics, but why not try when all else fails? Sometimes, the easiest way is the best. KISS (Keep it simple, stupid ;-)) as they like to joke about!
  • When one has something to learn, life becomes meaningful. Take a course, learn a new language, a new skill, a new way to communicate and a new way to show love. Be compassionate, be willing to fail and be willing to simply find joy in learning something new.
  • Talk to someone you've never met or someone you've failed to understand. Find new strategy to get through, to find common grounds. I can guarantee that it's very satisfying and it gets easier the more you do it.
  • Learn to live with surprises, pleasant or nasty. It is what life will be whether you like it or not. Snow storm, traffic jams, betrayals, etc... they come and go but they will certainly be there one way or another, there is no escaping no matter how hard you try. Ahem, of course, there are also pleasant ones like perhaps the lotteries, the stranger who becomes your best friend, the awesome sunset and the surprise trip your partner takes you to! :-)

  • Most importantly, love thyself and when you know how to do that well you will then begin to love everyone around you well. Love is not simply an emotion, it is a way, an act, a will. It is not easy to love when you are the only one in the equation, be it in a man-woman relationship, an employer-employee relationship, between siblings, between friends or even between strangers. But love is also the strangest element in the world. It spreads and it is contagious. It may even be telepathic! So, love with all your heart's content. The more you use it, the more it's being produced.
  • Under normal circumstances, we all have it. To some degree, even the craziest person has it. No wrong in love itself, simply at times, it's misdirected, misinterpreted and misguided. I can't right a wrong in the world and I do not even try or want to do so. I do believe the wrongs (whatever one deems it to be or the society deems it to be) will be righted if, only if you are able to forgive and to love despite it all. Naturally, for some, it is of utmost difficulties. I do not preclude that there have been many crimes against the young and the innocents in the world. Yet, as a believer, first, do not judge. Last, God is here. Life is HIS way, not ours.
  • For a non-believer, you do not really have as much control as you think you have. Even if you are the president, the richest man in the world or the most powerful person around the region. As a simple example, you do not have control of your muscle or your nerve cells, you cannot control if your loved ones get sick or not, you have no control over today's temperature or natural calamities like earthquakes, tsunamis or typhoons or even rain. So, there is no permanencies in men's riches. There is however a lot to gain (if that's all a man understands) in loving. Hey, I'm not saying you have to be poor to love, ok? That's not the implication. There is however a tendency to be more loving when one has less. For some reason, with less possession and material assets, one has more time for some strange reason! Love needs time.

FILL - Forgive, Inner Peace, Learn, Love... Fill your life, live it to the fullest & love to last.

Life - Love, Inner Peace, Forgive, Earn.

Yes, life is also about earning a living, earning the right to live as in doing so, you earn your self respect and also respect from others. In earning your living, you define the opportunities and in doing so, you define how much you get and in doing so, how much you can give. I do not believe money is evil, it is merely an instrument. How one uses money, as with fire and many other things in life, may be evil. That's what scholars and religious leaders have discussed about. Hence, no need for my view on that front. The world still has hopes as I do believe the will of Man is still in his & her hands and from what I can see and have lived through, it is still divine. Yes, we have battles, we have wars and we have conflicts between countries, between neighbors or may be even between families or in the family. However, we also have in each of us the capability to forgive, to learn to love and to find inner peace.

To sum it all, there is life (not after life) but on this planet. Right now, today, this week, this year, this Christmas, this new year. It is not 2012 and the world is not coming to an end, so live your life today, right this moment, live it to the best (even if it's the last 3 years of our world! ;-)) for no matter how you live it, until you come to the end, each of us still has a life... 24 hours, 1440 mins, 86400 secs a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. That's 31.536 million secs a year. How much is your life worth a year? Multiply that by 3, almost 100 million secs. So, define it yourself, how much is your life worth?

If you have not understand anything, understand just one thing. Life is a series of lessons. Learn them well so that you may progress (hehe, not to an easier one but to a more challenging one, one that's guarantee to test your intelligence & patience but possibly a more interesting one) to the next one. If you are reading this among the billions of pages on the net, then I can guarantee you that you'll want to progress beyond the current one at the quickest pace. Hmmm, I wonder what my next lesson is, now that I've got this review out in the world?!

INVICTUS by William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

So beautifully said, Sharrie and so much truth to it all. Forgiving ourselves and others, learning to live with our failures, yet experience joy......all paradoxical because life is a paradox. I've never had the attitude that life "sucks" although I've certainly had my share of heartaches. One thing I've had to learn as the years go by is to be kinder to myself and others as well, because we're all out there trying and none of us is perfect.....what a boring world if all was perfection. We all have our private journeys we're following, and yet we're intertwined with each other....what an interesting concept! Each morning I wake up with a new hope for the day, week, month. As you say, it doesn't always turn out as planned, but I still keep hoping as we all do because in the big scheme of things, hope is all we really have. Thanks for sharing.

Ah Donna, you just reminded me, it is afterall one's attitude that determines one's perception. Although, at times, when one hits the lowest point/s and no matter how much you tried and for the longest period, you still couldn't rise above it, that's when life sucks! Some are luckier than others while for some it's been very challenging. You are right in saying that it's a private journey for every single individual. Pain of any kind is something you've no clue of how it feels until it hits you personally. Having gone through those pains personally though, I learn to be more empathetic & that's when I grow up, I figure. Growing pains ;-)

what a thorough, engaging and uplifting write up! You always have a way with your writing style. I understand the 4 star rating, since even if I do appreciate and love life; I have to say it does suck sometimes...

I'm not sure if it's my writing style or perhaps it's my inner voice you're hearing?! As for life sucks, ha, I'm in the Finance field, after Wall Street collapse last year, life doesn't just sucks! It was hell on earth!

The Journey That is LIFE....
With the promise of a New Year looming, I always like thinking back at the past year. Not just the events itself but what I did and what I didn’t do, my mistakes and my triumphs. I guess you may say that I tend to think about life itself. Not life as the bond between all human beings or a term from biology but the force that gives us our self-awareness and the ability to feel physical and intangible things.     The dictionary defines life as the force that makes …

Live & let live, that's been one of my mottos for a long time. Never live to regret and do what one wants to do when one wants to do it! I still abide by this rule although at times I need to be more aware of the consequences of doing that. It's come to a stage whereby I think I need to be more attuned to the people surrounding. Reaching out is great, but it's also time to go for depth, in all essence.       Well, now that it's 22nd May in my …

About this topic

Life (cf. biota) is a characteristic that distinguishes objects that have self-sustaining biological processes ("alive," "living"), from those which do not —either because such functions have ceased (death), or else because they lack such functions and are classified as "inanimate."

In biology, the science that studies living organisms, "life" is the condition which distinguishes active organisms from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, functional activity and the continual change preceding death. A diverse array of living organisms (life forms) can be found in the biosphere on Earth, and properties common to these organisms—plants, animals, fungi, protists, archaea, and bacteria — are a carbon- and water-based cellular form with complex organization and heritable genetic information. Living organisms undergo metabolism, maintain homeostasis, possess a capacity to grow, respond to stimuli, reproduce and, through natural selection, adapt to their environment in successive generations. More complex living organisms can communicate through various means.

In philosophy and religion, the conception and nature of life varies, and offer interpretations in the frameworks of existence and consciousness, and touch on many other related issues, such as, ontology, value, life stance, purpose, conceptions of God, the soul and the afterlife.
