An animated cat that sang, and apparently dated, Paula Abdul.

Would have kicked Jerry's butt

One of the certainties of 1989 was that every teenager had a crush on Paula Abdul. You can still hear the echoes of the collective groan when Ms Abdul gave us a hint of her fleeting grasp of reality by announcing her relationship with MC Skat Kat.

Most cat owners are content with their pets sitting around all day and occasionally catching a smaller animal, but Paula upped the ante by dating a cat that rapped. Pet stores across the nation were swamped by the cat-rapping craze, which later subsided to the potbelly pig and exotic pet period.

Unfortunately, Paula's looks went the same direction of her sanity, and despite Skat's promise that "Opposites Attract", he too discovered that normal was a poor match with batshit fucking crazy. Shortly after their break-up, Abdul married actor Emilio Estevez, who at this point must have considered monetizing his magnetic draw of the insane by opening his own mental asylum, but that too was not to last.

Skat went on to produce and direct a number of Grammy-award winning albums. Abdul was last seen caked in lipstick and apparently trying to kill Batman.

I still don't understand how one could go from MC Skat Kat to Emilio Estevez.

Emilio Estevez doesn't steal the covers!
