If you are having trouble with your stomach at night then this is the cheapest way to get relief. Just by strolling to you local Walgreens store, you will only have to spend a little over $5 to get immediate relief. For this amount, you will get a strawberry tasting maximum relief 12 ounce bottle of Maalox to help you temporarily relieve any discomfort that you may be having.

Description
This is a white liquid, that flavored to taste like creamy strawberries. This comes in a several different sizes but this one is a twelve ounce bottle. This has a very pleasant aroma just like strawberries, when you pour it into a container you will notice that it is very thick and is a little different than what you are used to tasting years ago.

Whenever I have a problem, this is the first thing that I grab. This is good for various problems with upset stomachs or nausea, heartburn, and gas that you may get from eating too much spicy foods. This also helped, but not cured any diarrhea that I may have had.

Ingredients
The active ingredient in this is Bismuth Subsalicylate for upset stomachs, and 528 mg for Antidiarrheal/reliever. You will get this in every tablespoon that you take for relief. There are a few allergy alerts that you need to know about and they are if you or your child just happen to be recovering from chicken pox or any flu symptoms them you should not give or take this because it contains salicylate and you may have adverse reactions to this. You should not use this if you have bloody or black stools, an ulcer, or any bleeding problems. You also need to be aware that if you have a fever or mucus in stool don't take this without seeking the advice of your doctor. Plus, if you are taking any drugs that are blood thinning or have diabetes, gout, and arthritis you should seek the advice of your doctor.

Each tablespoon contains 6 mg of sodium and 232 mg of salicylate. You do not have to refrigerate this but, I have found that it tastes a little better if kept cold. The inactive ingredients are the flavor, methylparaben, microcrystalline cellulose, propylene glycol, propylparaben, purified water, salicylic acid, sodium salicylate, sorbitol, sucralose, and xanthan gum.

Experience
Whenever I start to feel like my stomach is upset or uneasy then I take a swig of this liquid. I have found that this takes about ½ an hour to take effect. But when the feeling still persists then I usually repeat the dosage. I simply shake the bottle up before using and the only reason that I do this is because when this bottle sits for a while it looks like it separates a little and it seems to tastes a little watered down. If you shake the bottle first then it should have that thick milkshake look to it.

As long as you are over the age of 12 you can take two tablespoons every hour not to exceed 8 in a 24 hour period. This stuff will usually help after  the first or second dose, at least it usually helped me after this. If you do not have any luck with this then seek the help of a doctor. This has always helped me out whenever I needed it.

Conclusion
I would highly recommend giving this a try instead of going to the er, this is the cheaper way out. I would rather sit at home instead of in the waiting room for 5 or 6 hour just for an upset stomach. You can easily find Maalox at your local grocery store or pharmacy for just about the same price. I have found this safe enough for my kids to take this. This is also very handy for those summer road trips when you just happen to try some strange food that your system is not used to.
