From a Herosexual: an Amazing Resource

First of all, I am heterosexual. I picked up this book because being knowledgeable about LGBTQ issues is important to me. I found this resource extremely easy to read, well organized, and packed from cover to cover with useful and pertinent information. There is an old joke that says, homosexuals should be able to get married. They deserve the right to be just as miserable as the rest of us!

For me, the most interesting and fascinating aspect of this book was the state by state comparisons and explanations about rights and privileges afforded to same-sex couples. Alongside the history of the same sex movement this was quite an eye opener about the various states, and what has transpired over our history.

Top that off with tons of information about same sex marriages, the authors do a fabulous job of balancing the content while not making it preachy. Obviously, marriage is not for everyone, heterosexual or homosexual, and the authors do a nice job of conveying this balance and providing discussion points for couples when going down this route.

While Making it Legal may be textbook-ish in terms of content, it certainly does not read like a text book and makes the presentation that much easier to digest. The landscape of homosexual relationships is constantly changing and evolving, so the information may go out of date fairly quickly; regardless of any changes in the future, this text still serves as a solid foundation with plenty of information that transcends time and cultural movements.

Regardless of sexual orientation, this book is a fantastic resource for anyone wishing to engage in the topical discussion with a solid education and background. Coming full circle, this is a great resource for homosexual couples that want to be "just as miserable as the rest of us."

Good reading,
