With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, it seems to be the time of year we focus on romance. Healthy relationships are so important, not just ones between couples but dealing with your children and your parents. We spend so much money on gifts, why not give some time and attend a relationships seminar. I can hear the groans and the no I don’t do that. It is the same response I got from my fiancée when I asked him to go with me to Relationship’s Matter seminar given by Jerry and Lynn Jones.

Here I am a divorced women, not yet engaged attending a Marriage Matters seminar in a church of Christ in the south no less. I can’t begin to tell you how daunting that can be. I probably would not have gone if I had not read Lynn’s bio about being divorced. My first thought is, this woman has guts to go around the country as a divorced women and talk about marriage and relationships to staunch Christians.

They both were a tremendous blessing to me. I had been to counseling briefly before and had a life coach. Neither of which worked very well for me. Honestly, I figured I needed all the help I could get. After the 1st session, my fiancée decided he wanted to come back for all 13. They have good data based ideas. They have helpful advice and resources for recovering from an abusive relationship, parenting, caring for your parents, finances and dealing with addiction.

The things I learned helped put some closure on my 16 year marriage. It helped my fiancée and I communicate better and increase our emotional intelligence. Bringing together a blended family is never easy, but I had 3 teenagers at the time and we all suffer from mild post traumatic stress due to some of the events that happened during the separation. We have been working on putting the pieces of our lives back together for a few years now. This seminar helped speed the process. I highly recommend attending, and it is free to attendees.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us, Mary!  You're fixin' to be Lunch's relationship expert! :)  I don't have a lot of experience in these types of relationships, but I'm still fascinated by them and spent the bulk of my college years studying them, so I'm always interested in topics like this.  Great, and very thought-provoking review!
