We have been using this particular herb for over thirty years, and we have noticed that a very little bit will go a long way. Even though we usually use this herb for making homemade stuffing mix twice a year, there are several ways to put this to good use. This herb is probably the most versatile out of all the herbs that we can get our hands on. You can use this to enhance or add flavor to several dishes such as; chicken, fish, any type of wild game, vegetables, roast, spaghetti, and when canning fruits.
The ground sage that we use looks like a finely ground pepper and has a very pungent and bitter taste. When added in the right amounts to your recipes, you will boost the flavor of your dishes to new heights. It does us no good to purchase the fresh because this would just go bad before we could make use of all that we have purchased. Fresh sage leaves can also be used to help from any bug bites, or rashes that you may have trouble with such as poison ivy or even poison sumac.
This also comes in a ground tea form which can be taken for sore throats, and tonsillitis. But mostly we use the ground sage for just plain old cooking. For example; when the holidays come around, my wife and I usually like to entertain and that is when all of the spices make an appearance on our countertops and inside our dishes.
