Melissa And Doug Will Help Tie Your Kids together.

If you are having trouble with teaching your child to learn their motor skills, you may want to give this learning toy by Melissa and Doug a try. You can usually find this kind of toy at most any place that sells toys, this one can be found  at Toys R Us on sale for only $9.99.

Description
This is only 8" wide and 7" from the top to the bottom and 1 1/4" thick, and only weighs a few pounds. All of the pieces are each a different basic color and shapes that will teach them to lace and tie all of the pieces together. This will help your child to learn the hand and eye coordination because when they do finally get the right laces matched up with color of the piece they will be so excited. The nice thing about this lace and trying to tie all of the pieces together, is that this does not requires batteries to operate properly, only an imagination. These pieces come in a wooden storage box so that they can be put up for storage when not in use.

Experience
We have used this for several years and it has always done an excellent job, there are five double sided pieces all in different colored shapes with different colored laces. This has given our children several hours of enjoyment, and lots excitement when they are finally finished. When they were finished they would come running to us to show how proud that they were, because they were able to succeed in finishing their project. Once they were done they would go back to the spot where they were playing with this, and dump them all over the floor and start over and over again. Each time they would finish, they would come running to show us how proud that they were of themselves.

Because this toy is so lightweight you can accidently leave the laces lying around and they are easy to lose, the boards are double sided and will start to fall apart if your child gets them wet. This may be a little confusing, but our children being so small and really did not understand that this was supposed to be put away after each use, all they knew was that they started losing laces. It really doesn't matter if they match up the color of laces and the color of the pieces, because the idea is to create eye and hand coordination. They enjoyed this immensely, they were just happy that they were able to make the pieces and laces match up. Our one year old, has enjoyed hours of fun with this play set by Melissa and Doug. We do have older children that can get a little bored with this, but they continue to still play with it, just because it does keep them busy on all of those rainy days it occupies their time when they get bored.

The manufacturer says that this is good for 3 years old and older. But, I have found the older that your child will get bored easily and they will soon stop playing with this. The amusement of this toy will only last for just a couple of years. Unless your child has a learning disability, then this will come in handy for years to come. Your child will need a little bit of help if they are a little slow.

Conclusion
This toy will not last forever, when teaching your child to learn, their eye and hand coordination is very important, this should be enough to get them started. This is an excellent starting off point and then who knows this may lead to more difficult play sets.
