A combination of female James Bond and Paladin

Modesty Blaise is a vastly underapprciated comic book character from the British author Peter O'Donnell. With her male sidekick Willie Garvin, she confidently walked into dangerous situations. While she was a former crime boss, she had a sense of honesty and integrity that reminds you of Paladin in "Have Gun-Will Travel." Although she was very close to Willie, they were not lovers but they were very immodest with each other. There were times when they were depicted bathing together in a stream, calmly discussing the situation they were in.

The Modesty Blaise stories have to be read with the historical context in mind, this was a female with a male sidekick at a time when strong female characters were unheard.
