Makes breastfeeding in public a breeze!

All eyes are on Canada for the 2010 Winter Olympics, but I am thinking about Canada for one more reason. I discovered a great company that makes breastfeeding apparel and it is based in Canada. It was started by a new mother and her entrepreneur minded brother. Aside from selling comfortable nursing shirts, they are also involved in supporting breastfeeding mothers through various organizations such as La Leche League and the June Callwood Centre for Women and Families.

This is my first nursing shirt (compliments of Momzelle) and I wish I had one earlier! I've been breastfeeding for a year now. When I was pregnant I made my own nursing cover tailored after the likes of Bebe Au Lait. That is what I used for nursing in public all this time. Lately I kept forgetting the cover at home and would use whatever piece of cloth I could get my hands on when we are out and about. So my advice for nursing moms and moms-to-be, save yourself a lot of trouble and don't skimp on nursing wear. All you need is a few shirts, you don't have to change your entire wardrobe or break the bank.

There is a lot I love about this simple and versatile tunic:
  • Black goes with anything!
  • It looks cute paired with accessories like belts, necklaces, and bracelets
  • The length makes it look great with pants in virtually any style
  • I can breastfeed discretely anywhere I want
  • It has a flattering fit good for any body shape
  • The neck line is universal and not cut too deep
  • The black tunic is made of organic cotton, woohoo!
  • I've never felt more comfortable as a breastfeeding mother

I do wish this top came in other colors. Black is versatile, but be sure to have a lint roller handy as everything sticks to it. Also in general I would not recommend black to moms who are skinny like me, it makes me look even tinier! I'm sure many would love that, but not me, I've been struggling to gain weight. They have many other great options though, as well as an identical shirt in a shorter style. That one also comes in plum, grey, rust, and chocolate. As you can see in the photo, the XS fits great on my 5'2" frame, I am just under one hundred pounds. There is a little room there though, overall it looks like their size chart is perfect. The Momzelle wide strap tanks are must haves for summer! The turtle neck and hoody are wonderful for colder months and the selection of t-shirts is abundant. The prices are a little steep in my opinion, but you do get what you pay for. This is great quality clothing.

Can you tell from the photos how much I like it? Excuse my grin, I was super excited to be at the Boston Children's Museum with my daughter who was in awe of everything she saw for the first time. I was just comfortable and happy I could nurse her anywhere I want with maximum ease. I can honestly say Momzelle rocks!

Quick Tip by . February 19, 2011
The true test of maternity tops: would you wear it even if you weren't nursing? I am wearing my Momzelle top right now, out of the house, simply because it is so soft and comfortable (even though I no longer need it for the intended purpose)!
